GOODWILL / SODEXO PARTNERSHIP

Goodwill of North Florida and Sodexo shared the same vision to establish a new hospital laundry facility in Jacksonville, Florida to serve the growing North Florida health care market, while also serving as an advocate for North Florida’s “hidden workforce” – persons with disabilities and special needs.

To realize this vision Goodwill of North Florida invested $1.7 Million Dollars to convert a portion of their headquarters into a commercial laundry facility. This joint venture project debuted in October 2007, employing ten individuals with disabilities and special needs.

Goodwill/Sodexo expects to process 6 million pounds of hospital laundry in its first year of operation. This facility has the capacity to process up to 20 million pounds of hospital laundry annually and will eventually employ 150 people with disabilities and special needs. Current clients include Bert Fish Hospital in New Symrna Beach, Florida and St. Luke’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Goodwill/Sodexo partnership provides a unique opportunity for health care systems to maintain control of their laundry and linen services, while benefiting from the resources and expertise of this “private sector/non-profit” collaborative effort.

It’s a “win-win” for all parties; allowing hospital administrators to focus on their core business to provide health care services to the local community, while Goodwill/Sodexo provides a long-term business plan for outsourcing hospital laundry by employing and empowering North Florida’s “hidden workforce”.

If you are looking for a service provider that continually seeks to improve its service, an organization that is dedicated to your patients and guests and committed to the community, we have a program for you.
